My main email address has already been used [by me a long time ago- I must have entered it al long time ago and have no recollection of how or why or password associated with it]. I'd like to use this email address for my apple account but I can't. Is there any way apple can delete it so I can re-use/re-enter this email address?

From your post, it sounds like you have an Apple ID associated with your main email address, but do not know the Apple ID password. If this is the case, we would want to help you reset the password for that existing Apple ID so that you can start using it again.
